The Real One

In English,  we had to make a short film similar to the court scene in Merchant of Venice. My group decided to make a film about a love triangle. The characters were Jack, Sam, Amy and Lia. We tied our love triangle to Bassanio, Antonio and Portia, as Jack, Sam and Lia. In our film there is a 3 friend-group friendship (Jack,Sam and Amy). These friends make a promise to each other which is to never break their friendship no matter what, so this "promise" they make is the "promise" that was made to Shylock. As they get older Jack meets a new girl (Lia) who he instantly falls for, little does he know his close friend Sam happens to meet the same girl who he becomes interested in. Although Lia had the just met the two of them, her heart beats faster around Jack, so the two love birds grow closer. Watching from afar Amy and Sam both get jealous, Amy has always had a soft spot for Jack, so Amy and Sam plan something to split them up. This "plan" of theirs is what tieing to Shylock's "revenge", so of course just like Shylock their "plan" doesn't work out and Jack and Lia have a happy ending.

As you can see we tried our best to use different film techniques, 2 of the techniques we used were birds eye view and medium close up. When we shot the birds eye view we tried getting the views to see that Sam and Amy are about to plan something with their phones. During the scene where they make a "promise" we used a medium close up, so that the viewers can see that they a comfortable and close friends hanging out. 

Making this film was really challenging, especially because most of us weren't that confident with the whole acting thing, but glad everything came together in the end, next time we should think carefully about who should do what role. If I were to do this again, I would put effort into to planning, because we struggled a lot with what to do next, if our plan was structured better maybe it would've been less stressful.
