Circuits

Cell - Supplies energy to circuit, by pushing current from positive to negative end.

Voltmeter - A device used to measure voltage, or electrical potential energy difference.

Ammeter - A device used to measure current in a circuit

Wire - A thin, flexible thread of metal

Resistor - An electrical device that resists the flow of electrical current

Bulb - In a circuit, this shows if electricity is flowing by lighting

Switch - A device that opens or closes a circuit

Battery - A device that converts chemical energy to electrical energy

Electricity 


Static electricity - A build up of electrical charges on an object.

Current electricity - A flow of electric charge.

Electrical charge - Electrical particles that negatively charge.

Circuit - A system that provides a pathway for electrical current to flow through.

Cell - Supplies energy to circuit, by pushing current from positive to negative end.

Voltmeter- A device used to measure voltage, or electrical potential energy difference.

What is it caused by?

How does the van de graaff machine work?
It pulls electrons from earth, then moves them along a belt and stores them on a long sphere.

What was one of the experiments we did?
In class we had our very own van de graaff and a few of had the chance to go up to it and place our hands on the sphere, as we waited for it to power our hairs on our body stood up!

Why did this happen?
The electricity transfers the charge to our hairs, because they try to repel each other it cause our hair to stand up.

cows eye dissection

Eye Dissection

Cow Eye Dissection | Perkins eLearning

Aim: To dissect a cows eye an look at the different parts of the eye

Equipment: 
1. cows eye
2. tray
3. newspaper
4. tweezers
5. scissors

Method: 
1. Set up with newspaper on the desk, the tray on top and the scissors and tweezers in the tray
2. put on rubber glove
3. start to remove the excess fat and meat from around the eyeball before dissecting it.
4. puncture a hole in the cornea where the cornea and the sci era meet. 
5. Cut around the cornea so that the vitreous fluid leaks out of the eye onto the tray. 
6. once the cornea has been totally removed you will be able to remove the lens from the iris
7. Cut the eye in half so that the inside is totally exposed. Once this has been one you will be able to access the retina at the back of the eye
8. You should now have place the retina, lens, cornea, and iris on a piece of paper. 
9. The dissection is now completed and all parts of the eye need to be wrapped ip and trashed. The trays and utensils that were used must be rinsed and the rubber globes thrown out. 

Summary:
The cows eye has exactly the same parts as the human eye except for its ability to see better in the dark.

Energy

Energy cant be created nor destroyed but only changed from one form into another form.

e.g of energy transformation- battery put into a flashlight to make light, which is chemical energy. 

aim: to look at the energy transformation

Paper spiral, Bunsen Burner, gas 

summary:
As I held the paper spiral above the Bunsen Burner the heat cause it to spin round and round, so heat energy was being transformed into kinetic energy.

bunsen burner Experiment 

Aim- Was to correctly light the bunsen burner
Equipment- bunsen burner, heat proof mat, matches
Method- 
1. Place the bunsen burner ont he heat broof mat
2. Connnect the bunsen burner to the gas outlet
3. Turn the collar so that the air is closed up
4. make sure the gas is on then light the bunsen burner up
5. then turn the collar around to change the colour of the light
